Throughout my life I have sought the answers to three questions: What is the nature of transformation? What is eternal in the midst of impermanence? What are the patterns that connect us to one another? 

Antarctica has one of the harshest climates on earth. A frozen desert dominated by rugged peaks and deep crevasses of blue ice. Blue from fallen snow so compressed that only this surreal color is reflected back to my eye.  The icebergs’ fantastical shapes are on a grand scale, repeated again and again in the small recesses of the ice. Scarred by the actions of water, wind, waves, and weather, these sculpted forms make me reflect on my own weathered life. 

Riding in the Zodiac, I am dwarfed by the icebergs. Immersed in a watery world of shapes and color, I press the shutter and freeze the moment. I make art as much for myself as for others; the creation of these visual meditations is an end in and of itself.
